SITGES ENCOUNTERS: IN CONVERSATION WITH ALBERTO VALCÁRCEL
Sitges Encounters encompasses talks with relevant figures of horror and fantasy cinema. Alberto Valcárcel will comment on his career accompanied by Mònica Garcia.
After starting his costume designing career in short films and theatre in the early 1990s, Alberto Valcárcel moved to Madrid in 2000 where he took positions in wardrobe departments as dressmaker and assistant costume designer in some of the most successful Spanish television shows. He continued to develop his career while designing for theatre, opera, television and film from his own atelier. His designs in Tarde para la ira (The Fury of a Patient Man) (2016) were nominated for a Goya Award. This was the first film for which he has been credited as costume designer. Since then, his costumes have been seen in Animales sin collar (2017), Superlópez (2017), Diecisiete (2018), A quien te llevarías a una isla desierta (2018), and Paradise Hills (2018).
